We had a phone call from Stage Electrics with an urgent request for help at the newly-redeveloped Arndale shopping centre in Manchester for an all night job where they had been asked to oversee urgent work. We were able to assist immediately.
Ten high-tech lights had just been installed by a third party, into the newly-built glass roof area. The lights were not responding to the computerised control panel, while the centre was due to open within 48 hours. All the high level scaffolding had been removed and there was no way to get to the lights due to a restricted weight limit on the floor. At a height of 15 metres and a 5 metre overhang to contend with, it seemed like an impossible situation.
The Teupen LEO 23GT spider access platform was able to be driven straight through the main entrance doors with the use of the remote control, up onto the first floor level of the shopping centre. This was achievable because of the very low ground pressure of the Teupen LEO 23GT and its non-marking tracks.
We were able to take a lighting technician in the basket up to the lights that required reprogramming. With the aid of his laptop, he was able to reprogram the lights with ease. The work was completed by 4:30am leaving all the high-tech lights working in time for the grand opening!
